What is a good place to volunteer for my 7 year old and me?

I'm interested in doing something together with my 7 year old. I'd like it to be an ongoing thing rather than a one time thing. Something where he sees what he's doing and the importance of it & will also increase his awareness of his own blessings. Any ideas?

I would check into Habitat for Humanity. They will not let him work on the building because of insurance issues, but he may be allowed to help plant flower beds after construction is complete. When I was looking into volunteerism for a middle school student council (ages ago) Habit for Humanity was one of the few places that I found that would allow minors to participate - I just don't know if 7 is too young.

I have always been looking into this for my family it is hard to find opportunities with small children. 2 Places that I have found are: cheering at the Special Olympics and the food pantry downtown Fort Worth. Otherwise we just try to adopt families at Thanksgiving and Christmas and have him help out with gathering the supplies.

Harvest Church on Denton Hwy in Watauga has a food pantry on every 4th Saturday. Volunteers get there at 7am by the stained glass Jesus on the side/back of the building to help out till about 11:30 am. It is going on tomorrow and my kids and I will be there. We hope to see you all there, it is a great thing to serve the community and help those in need.
