We squeegee the snow off the garage floor after it falls off our cars' wheel wells, but the floor always seems wet. There is a lovely puddle right where I stand to help my son into his carseat. My son's feet get wet and dirty, and then he drags his shoes or boots across the floor and seats of the car. Additionally, our entryway from the garage to the kitchen is tough to maintain. We got an attached garage to avoid these issues!
I understand that these things happen when it's snowing, but we have these issues for weeks after a big rain storm or snowfall. We always have. Any solutions, like some kind of sealant or other flooring ideas?
How old is the garage? Does it have a crack in the cement? If it does then that is probably where the water is coming from during a bad storm. The ground becomes saturated and cannot absorb the water. In the winter the ground is frozen. I don't think a sealant will do any good, you probably need to talk to a contractor about fixing your floor or possibly putting in drain tile.
we have an indoor/outdoor piece of carpeting along the side of our car (in the garage) that is closest to the door that leads into the house. this helps get the extra junk off of our feet. we also have a rug inside the house that we wipe our feet on and where we take off our shoes.
