Seeking information about Lantana

Any feedback, positive or negative, about living in Lantana is greatly appreciated. We're considering moving there, info about schools, community events, subdivisions to buy in or avoid(price point is 300,000.00)fitness center and cable options that come with HOA dues would be great to know about too. Anything is welcomed....thanks in advance.

The only thing I know is that you should only move there if you plan on living there for at least 5-10 more years. It is not easy to sell your home there since it will be a while before it is built out and the roads into town are still under construction. I live in neighboring Flower Mound and have many friends who have told me they regret buying out there because they feel "stuck." Other than that, it is a great place to live!

My daughter and her husband live in Lantana. I worked for a home builder there about 7 years ago. I think it is a good place to live for a family with young children. There are two fitness centers that are included in your HOA as well as 2 main pools and 3 secondary pools located in some of the neighborhoods. There is also a separate fitness center if you have a golf membership, which is a separate fee. The country club recently went private. I believe the HOA also includes front yard maintenance and basic cable. The schools are exemplary rated campuses. Lantana is located in Denton ISD, so you might want to check out that school district. The high school is in Denton, TX, several miles away. There are some reputable builders in your price point. Highland Homes is probably the largest. David Weekly is good as well. I would not recommend Grand Homes. There are quite a few pre-owned properties on the market as well as new construction, so you should be able to negotiate a pretty good price. Selling could be difficult if you plan to move in the next couple of years. The traffic is definitely an issue if you must travel at peak times as there is considerable road construction to the East. FM 407 will eventually be widened to 4 lanes. You should be fine if you travel West for work. I live in Highland Shores, about 15 minutes East of Lantana, and highly recommend it unless you are looking for new construction. We are built out. We are located in Lewisville ISD, and have neighborhood elementary and middle schools, with the high school being about 2 miles away in Flower Mound. Good luck with your search!

I would highly recommend visiting www.LantanaLinks.com. They have LOTS of info about Lantana and the surrounding communities. The Cross Timbers Gazette is a newspaper owned by the same person that does Lantana Links and has news stories from the area.

When you get there, look at the menu on the left side and choose "Lantana Resident Information." They've list info on everything from Utilities and Tax info to Youth Sports Leagues and the Garden Club.

Also check out their forum: http://lantanalinks.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1 where locals discuss Lantana issues. It will give you a really good insider's view on the area.

Finally, if you decide to move to the area, check out our site: www.familyeguide.com. We feature family activities in the area.

Good luck!
