Hi all,
I live in Manhattan and my car has "lived" in CT since '96, when I moved into the city. I'd like to attend a function in NJ this summer, but wouldn't consider taking public transportation with my 22 month old b/c it would involve taking a subway and a train, and then being picked up by someone who doesn't have a carseat. Has anyone rented a car with a carseat? Any words of advice/caution about doing so? Thank you for your input.
When we went to Florida, we rented a car and a carseat instead of lugging our carseat with us. We did it with Hertz and it only cost an extra $50 I believe. We didn't have a problem and it was a decent brand name car seat that they gave us (I don't recall the name of it now). I don't know if they offer this in NY but I would call around and find out of they do rent the car seats with the car and what brand of car seat they offer. WHen they mention what they have, find out as much info about it as possible then check the recall list. I don't know how often the car rental companies keep up to date on those.
My other piece of advice is to buy your own car seat. You may need one in the future for an emergency where you need to have a car service or taxi pick you up. It is always better to have one than be without one just in case the need arises.
