I live in Farmington and I want to have a birthday party for my 1 yr old son at some kind of park. I've already tried Shiawasee and Heritage Parks in Farmington and they're both booked. Does anyone know of a nice park with a play area and barbeque pits in the area? I'm open to Southfield, Berkley, Livonia..whereever. Honestly, I didn't know you had to reserve a shelter, I thought we would just show up early in the morning and claim our spot...guess I was wrong, huh? LOL
Hi there is a park on 6 mile between Merriman and Farmington-I don"t know the name of it but it looks very nice and kid friendly-I believe it is Livonia-good luck!!
I had my sons first birthday at kensington park and his third at lakeshore park in novi. Also I can suggest mayberry. Mayberry and kensington also both have the farm and the fun stuff. Lakeshore has the beach and a playground all fun suggestions. Let me know if you find somewhere! Enjoy!
What about Rotary Park in Livonia? It's on 6 Mile, near Merriman. I don't know if you need to reserve the area there or if you can just show up. Another option is Hines Park, which has many different picnic/bbq areas.

Rotary Park like the other moms said is good on 6 mile just east of Farmington. However, I do know they do a lottery system for reservations. Definitely check out the city of livonia website or call the city to see how to reserve. I think it's free, but you just need to get on the list. There's also Drake Park behind Longacre Elem school in Farmington. You can get to via Drake Rd or park at Longacre but it's a longer walk that way. I think there you may be able to just show up. We had his party at Kensington Park this past sunday and it went GREAT! We had a good turnout of friends and family and the weather was nice. We got there at 1pm, went on a hayride, and didn’t leave until 8pm! My son was exhausted! 
I would recommend Kensington to anyone having a birthday party.
