My mother got laid off a year ago which isnt too bad because she is now free to watch my little girl everyday. My mother however is horrible with spending mony! A few months ago my parents had asked me and my family to move in with them to help them out. Being that our lease was up and I was spending a lot in gas to go and drop my daughter off and pick her up, it seemed ideal. So we did. Well about a month ago my mother came to me and told me that they were going to loose the house!! My first thought was "then why did you ask me to move in?" Well we are currently fixing her issues but she says that she is tired of having all the financial responsibility on her and she wants my father to do it. I have tried sitting them down and talking to them and neither of them are wiling to do the work. What should I do? I cant let them loose everything, but I cant do everything for them forever.
Well, first off- you need to start looking for a place to live if they are going to lose the house- second- DAVE RAM SEY!!!! Listen to his radio show, check out his web-site and read his books and get your parents to do the same. It is NOT a get rich quick scheme- he teaches you common sense approches to managing your money and get out of debt. It is possible!! My parents were in debt for 25 years- they took his class, buckled down and were completely debt free except the house within 9 months! They will have thier house paid off in 2 more years- they don't make a ton of money, but they have now learned how to budget and how to say "no" to themselves.
My husband and I are doing the baby steps and will be debt free this year!!! He has a live event in Dallas this Spring at The Potter's House- we went last year and it really changed how we look at our money and our life! If you can get tickets- go, or get your parents to go!
Listen to his radio show(560am from 1-4pm) and it really gives you hope that getting out of debt and staying out of debt is NOT impossible!
That's the best I can offer!
Good LUck!
