We're hoping to move by the end of the month. We'll be doing it ourselves due to the fact that we will be picking up items from several locations throughout the NW side/suburbs (Parent's, sister's, & friend's homes). I was wondering if any of you have a preference? Ryder, Budget, U-Haul, Penske? We will be moving from the city to Glenview. Thanks!
We used Penske the first time we moved and it was horrible. We didn't need a big truck so they told us we HAD to rent a van. Well the van felt very unsafe and we told them we wanted the small truck. They wanted us to pay more even though the truck is what we asked for and was quoted on. And then they told us we could only return it to that location. Not sure if this has changed since but we use Uhaul now. We have not had any problems with renting or returning. The only time anything came up was when the clerk entered the gas and milage incorrectly but we had a recipt from the gas station with time and gallons so they corrected it. She entered the wrong truck number when closing the rental. A neighbor used an Enterprise truck to move in.
Try a local Downers Grove company -- Del's Movers -- 847.797.6683. Our 4-hour move turned into a 6-hour move, and they were pleasant and professional during every minute. BTW, I used Del's after a co-worker recommended them -- my co-worker used them for every one of her four local moves. Good luck!
