How long does it take for Mother's Milk Tea to increase your milk supply? How many cups a day should I drink?
Most dietary changes take about 3 days to take effect.
I drink Mother's Milk Tea faithfully and I usually notice a difference in 24 hours. It should take 24-72 hours.
I drank a cup in the morning and a cup in the evening and I saw results fairly quickly, like the next day. I continued to drink 2 cups a day until my milk was over producing and drowning my baby, then I cut it out completely. Now I drink one cup a day and my milk supply is very steady.
You can drink 3 or more cups a day. Keep in mind that how long you're brewing the tea effects it's potency and therefore how much you're actually taking in and how quickly it will work for you. And as you probably know, how often you're breastfeeding and how long each feeding is going will affect your supply.

My doctor told me 2 cups a day, one in the morning and one at night. I could tell there was an increase in my milk supply within 1 or 2 days.
Amy,
most moms see a turnaround in about 2-3 days. Depending on the issue with the milk supply the tea may not be enough. You definately need at least 2 cups daily and the strength of the brew is important. I usually recomend mothers lactation tonic instead, taken 4 times daily for a week if extra feedings and pumping does not increase the milk on its own. It depends on how often you feed now. Are you feeding at least 8-10 times daily? your baby is getting ready to go thru the 6 week growth spurt so be aware of an increased need to feed more frequently.
Also you don't say if you supplement now. All of these things will affect your milk supply.

Just to let you know the Mother's Milk Tea didn't work that great for me, and I got tired of drinking sooo much tea. I used an herb called "fenugreek"(spelling may be wrong) you can find it at Whole foods or places like that, just ask the people working in the vitamins/herb section I am sure they will know what you are talking about. I took one capsules 2 or 3 times a day and that worked a lot better than the tea. It also seemed more cost effective to me. The only side effect I had and hear most people have is smelling a little bit like maple syrup. I like maple syrup though and after a while didn't even notice. You might try that if you get tired of the tea. Good luck with the breast feeding.
The best way to increase your milk supply is to nurse on demand as frequently as the baby wants it. The nursing process is all about supply and demand. Your body will adjust to the demands placed upon it. Also, eat as healthfully as possible so you will pass along all those nutrients to your little guy. Strive for 9-13 servings of fruits and veggies per day. For an easy way to bridge the gap between that goal and what you actually do end up eating, you can visit my website: www.GoodHealthMadeSimple.com

Try Healthy nursing tea to kick up supply…and pump every two hours which also kicks up supply. try to nurse your baby most often and pump in between feedings.
