Making Communion

I am looking for a catholic church in Charlotte,NC 28273 to put my son in communion classes. Does anyone know of any place and how much the classes are?

St. Matthew is the largest congregation in the South East. 28277. It is where Piper Glen and Ballantyne come together just across from Stonecrest at Rea/485. But I am not sure where 28273 is. Maybe if you identified your side of town?

I think you could call the Diocese office downtown-it is just off College near South Blvd, but I can't think of the name of the street it is actually on-and get a recommendation. Do you not attend church now and just want to send your son? You may have a hard time getting in, I know with St. Matt we had a lot of friends who couldn't get a spot because members had first dibs (rightly so) and non-member parents were wait-listed consistently.

Good luck!

Hi Irene,

You will probably have trouble getting him into a class at this point. It's usually done through the Faith Formation classes and they started back at the beginning of school. Also, they do reconciliation before first communion, so you'll need to talk to the church and find out what they require.

Good luck!!

hi there, not sure where your zip code is but St. Matthew Catholic Church in Ballantyne is where we go (sometimes) and it has a CCD classes
St. John Newmann is where I went and had my first communion and confirmation (years ago!) but they are also good, they are off of Idelwild road
St. Gabriel's on Providence Rd has classes too

Not sure of any of the costs, but look into it. Hope that helps!
What parish are you all at now?
