jump-o-lene

I have started browsing the catalogs for Christmas ideas. I thought about the "Jump-o-Lene" for our girls for the basement (would have safety rules, etc) to have during the long winter months (love Wisconsin, eh?!). My question is, it says up to age 6 and my oldest will be 5 1/2 by Christmas. She is in the 25th percentile for height and weight (still just under 40#.). Has anyone else used this for slightly older kids. I like that it has a wall and is soft. The neighbors have one, it's a huge hit, but her son is the same age, so she's not sure how it will hold up in the next year or so. Thanks!

From personal experience, they are pretty big, so need a large area to keep in. They do develop slow leaks after lots of jumping and then you will be left adding air every other day as the leaks are impossible to find! Eventually you will get sick of adding air and will be left with a giant pile of vinyl to discard of. You decide if you want to go this route or not :)

Hi Michelle- my kids are 3 and 6 and they still love the Jump-o-lene, they've had it for 2 years, kids that come over love to play in it too. Have fun!!

Michelle,

My twins are off of the charts in height and weight (they will be 4 next month and my son is already over 3.5 feet tall and more than 50 pounds). My kids went through 2 Jump-o-Lenes... But, that included Mom, Dad and 10 year old niece (AND Grandma) playing with them in there as well! Now, us adults did actually jump, but we did fall, roll and bounce! The kids had a great time, stayed very active during 2 Wisconsin winters. We decided to not replace it again because we actually took back out dining room AND my son gets a little too courageous...he was trying to jump from the back of the couch into the jump-o-lene...
I think that if your daughters follow the rules, it will be a great time for them and provide a ton of enjoyment for them!
Good luck!

Have you considered just getting a mini trampoline? They make some with "jumping handle bars" or you could just get the small round one. They will last longer than one that needs air and can hold more weight..... Just a thought.

I think it would be fine- everything has it's good points and bad

I don't know much about jump-o-lenes but I do know do not get a mini trampoline. We had one and our daughter ended up with a toddler fracture on her leg and was in a cast. And when we talked with the orthopedic specialist at Regions hospital she said that we were lucky she didnt have a broken neck. She said trampolenes are very dangerous for children and should not be used. She even told us to throw it away and not give it to anyone else. I guess they are that dangerous. So my advice is just dont go the trampolene route.
