I am considering doing IVF. I have been through all the other methods prior to IVF and have been recommended to move to this step. I have already spoke with doctors at the RMIA clinic in Wooodbury? I was wondering if there are others out there that have went through it. If so would you be willing to share your experience. These are some of questiions I would love to know: Has anyone went to the RMIA clinic in Woodbury? Where you went and would you recommend going there? Any doctors you would recommend? How many cycles it took for you to conceive? If you did conceive did you have a single or multiple birth? Did you choose to do a warantee program where they refunded part of your money back?
This is a soul searching decision. Any information you would be willing to share will help us in making our decision. Thanks so much for reading this and responding.
Warmly,
Joan
Hi Joan! I run a messageboard for fertility, pregnancy, parenting, etc...and I have a lot of ladies on there who have gone through IVF or are doing it currently. The URL is www.idob.org/forum (IDOB stands for I'm Dreaming of Babies). You would need to register to get into the forum. I do it that way to keep the members feeling secure. There is actually a nice sized group of Minneapolis area ladies on there, as well as ladies from all over the world.
Anyway, just a suggestion. I've made some of the best friendships I've ever had on there and I've received tons of support when I was trying to get pregnant. =)
Hi Joan,
I am the proud mother of 4 beautiful children, all conceived with the help of IVF. After 3 years of trying all sorts of infertility treatments, we opted for IVF. We went to the Center for Reproductive Medicine located in Minneapolis. There we saw Dr. Paul Kunick. He was wonderful. In 1999, we did a "fresh" cycle of our retreived embryos, (we were able to harvest 24!)-(I was 28 at that time) They told us fresh ususally works best, vs. frozen. Our first cycle didn't work. Needless to say, we were devistated. Six months later in 2000, we tryed again with a frozen cycle. They implanted four of our embryos, one succesfully implanted, and we became pregnant with our first daughter. The pregnancy went picture perfect, and had a normal delivery. A year and a half after that in 2002, we wanted to try for one more child. We still had several frozen embryos, so the cost is not as great as it is when you are first trying with a fresh cycle each time. Three embryos were implanted that time, and ALL THREE IMPLANTED! Yes, I was excited, and scared, and every emotion you could think of in between. We were blessed with two boys and a girl. I delivered them at 35 weeks, which is great for a triplet pregnancy. They were all healthy and required no assisted breathing. They were in the NIC Unit for two weeks before we could bring them home due to the lack of ability to rythmicly suck and swallow.(That comes at 37 weeks gestation). They are all now 5 1/2 and 3 1/2. All very normal, energetic, wonderful bundles of joy. I definatly recommend this medical facility. The dr.'s, staff, and the whole experience of it was wonderful! We are a middle income family and found this to be affordable. (We own our home, so we refinanced it to pay for all expences.)If you would like to talk further about any of this, please call me or email me. I don't mind visiting about this at all. Tami- 952-898-3288-evenings. Or [email protected]. We feel very blessed to have found this place that offered the services we needed to have a family. I am more than willing to give any advise or suggestions to who ever may need/want it.
I had a terrible experience with RMIA in Woodbury. They are only able to help those without real jobs. We were expected to go there in the middle of the day several times. Eventually, they decided we were not good candidates for there clinic. We went to the Center for Reproductive medicine in Mpls. I thought they were much more compassionate. We didn't end up with any treatments because I concieved one week before my appointment.
I went thru everything under the sun with infertility you name it and I had it done or happen to me. I went to RMIA after abbott. I did 10 rounds of IVF on the waranty program 3 fresh and 7 frozen (I am an over the top egg producer!). I ended up pg with triplets that miscarriage at 14 weeks. I had several other miscarriages along the way, but never that far along. I never did end up having biological children but have 2 wonderful adopted children. As far as RMIA is concerned I could not say more positive things for and about them. Stassart is a god send. We always said that if we had a boy we would name him after Jacques! We really did mean it! I just love that man, so sweet and gentle and caring. They needless to say lost money on us. We figured out that after everything we made money on them after the refund. It was $1,000 more than we even thought we were getting back. As I look back on it now I only wish we had tried to adopt and work on infertility at the same time...why not work on baby #2 and baby #3 at the same time? "never put all your eggs in one basket" so they say and it sure is true!
Good luck to you, your in great hands!
Tina
Hi Joan-
I went through fertility treatments including hormone shots. My doctor recommended that I do IVF the first time after my shots and I was pregnant the first time. It was a miracle. My clinic was Reproductive Medicine Center in Minneapolis. I had a wonderful experience the staff was fantastic and my doctor diagnosed me with polycystic ovarian syndrom within 10 minutes of examining me. I highly recommend Dr. Theadore Nagel; I have many friends who have also had positive experiences with him.
I am expecting my first child in two weeks and I cannot wait. Thanks to the great staff at Reproductive Medicince Center, I will be a proud mom very soon.
