10 days ago, my grandma was in a car accident that left her very shaken, both emotionally and physically. Her nose was broken in several places, she developed a hernia, and she may have had a minor heart attack. She was released from the hospital yesterday, but all signs of recovery are rapidly disappearing as she refuses to eat, or even drink anything other than a few sips of water. She has been underweight her entire life and has typically stopped eating for days at a time during times of stress or trauma, but she can't afford to go through one of those stages right now. She will refuse to go back to the doctor until she is on the brink of complete collapse (or beyond). Grandma has said that she will accept some care at home--just so long as she doesn't have to leave the house again. I have been searching online, but I don't really know what to look for. If you have any suggestions for available services, or even where to look/what to search for, please let me know. My grandma lives in Salt Lake City, UT.
I don't have any contact information, but you can check out Alpine home health care. When my husband's grandmother lived with us and was on hospice, she had a nurse and a social worker that came out about once a week, and an aid that came 3 times a week to help her shower, and clean up her room a bit....
Eventually she got better and was no longer on hospice, but we were able to keep the aid. :)
