Help 7 week old screaming baby

Do you have insurance? See if you can get some donated breast milk for her. My friend had trouble nursing and was able to get that through her insurance. This baby's probably got super picky digestion. Also, you could try taking a lactation producing drug, if you are not opposed to nursing her. Also, try goat milk formula, it is the most like human milk.

Laxatives are not popular in the USA, but other countries use them frequently. I always give a 1/2 teaspoon of milk of magnesia to my babies right after birth to clean them up. You would not believe what will come out of a baby, and they need one every 6 months. Adults should take a laxative every month, because we need to clean our colons. I believe in medical doctors, but they don't have the last word. You should take your baby to a gatroenterologist, and make sure her digestive system is functionning properly. You can then give mint tea to your baby, and it will get the gas out. I recommend fresh mint leaves from the store, or you can have a few plants at home for usage. It is also good for digestion in adults. Boil water, and add a few leafs per bottle. It is more efficace warm, and put the baby on her side with a folded small blanket behind to keep her in place. I don't put all my faith into medical doctors, because they are humans like the rest of us. They are not perfect, and don't have all the answers. Feel free to email me with additional questions.

Hi, Coleen. I would think about switching doctors. There may be something wrong with your baby's digestive system. If she hasn't had a normal bowel movement since the meconimum (tar like stuff) was gone, then something is wrong! If she's constantly screaming, something is wrong. Make a doctor listen to you. It is not normal for a baby to do nothing but scream. It is not normal for a nearly 2-month-old baby to not be able to be soothed and to not be able to interact some with her mom.

In fact, she should be smiling right about now (6-12 weeks, first smiles).

Please, please, get her checked out more thoroughly. I will pray for you and your little daughter.

Peace and healing,
Syl

Hi Coleen,

Mu daughter, who is now 2, was exactly the same way as what your describing. After trying formula after formula and repeat Dr visits, she was put on Zantac for the reflux and I was advised to switch her to Nutramigen for her sensative stomach as they thought she could have been sensitive to the milk in the formula, which a lot of babies are as their digestive systems are still maturing. The nutramigem is partially broken down already so it is easier for them to digest. After a couple of days I noticed a change in her and it took a couple of weeks for her digestive system to settle and handle all of the previous changes. I also switched to Dr Brown bottles to be honest the change when I switched to the different bottles was instantaneous, she wasn't taking in as much air which helped with the reflux symptoms. When she was 4 weeks old my Dr told me to start giving her an ounce of water a day, not all at the same time but a little here and there to help with the bowel movements.

Don't worry to much about her being on the Zantac it isn't a harsh medication it helps to ease the reflux, my daughter was on it until just over her first birthday.

I hope your Dr's appointment went well, keep us updated and msg me if like I know what you must be thinking and it can help to bounce thoughts and ideas off people who have experienced then same issue.

Good luck honey.

OK, we had a doctor’s appointment on Thursday and he sent us to the hospital to have a barrium enima done. Then went back to the doctor’s office after lunch to get the results. She doesn’t have a blockage or narrowing to prevent her from having a bowel movement. He told me her rectal muscles are too tight and she can’t push anything out. He told me to give a suppository everyday for the next 5 days to help get the rest of the barrium out of her system and it will help loosing them muscles. He said she’s screaming because her tummy hurts from her system being backed up. Hopefully this fixes the problem soon. Thank you everyone.
