Hi Mamas! I am wondering if any of you have heard of Royal Exteriors, Ltd. in Woodstock and what your experiences were.
I had a contractor show up here last week and again today to see if I was interested in filing a claim for hail damage I had over the summer. I filled out the paperwork for them to do a quote and then the work is based on insurances approval. When I just looked them up on the internet I am not finding anything about them. The man said he has been in business for 13 years and actually lives a few blocks from me. The guy seems totally legit and very helpful!
I haven't heard of that company, but we had a similar experience with Fiji Construction, where they showed up at the door. Normally, I send them away, but we have a house in Carpentersville we're trying to sell/rent, so we asked if they could look into that one. They did, and were able to get our insurance to cover the roof and siding there. They were really great, and we may consider having our roof done by them at some point next year, as they looked at it and suggested it could also use repair. Whether or not the entire roof is covered depends on how old the roof is. I believe we'd have to pay some of the cost on the roof for the house we're living in, so we have to hold off for now.
Just make sure to talk to the insurance company and check the paperwork thoroughly - I've heard of people being scammed and ending up with huge deductible costs, or not being aware that there would be any cost to them. Fiji worked with us on making sure we didn't pay for anything! They also waited for us to get the insurance checks before they were paid - we signed those checks over to them instead of paying up front and being reimbursed by the insurance.
My husband in a Contractor, we have never heard of them but that does not mean anything. He just knows many of the local companies that deal with the local companies, like Woodstock Lumber or Richards Building Supplies.
First, Call you insurance company and tell them what you have done because if this is a scam they could get the money directly and just take off. You should have personally went to your insurance company to put in a claim and the insurance company would come out and look at your damage or ask you to get quotes. the contractor should not have been helping you fill out paper work.
Second, call the City Of Woodstock and see if they have a record of them.
Third, You can call the Local, County or State Police to see if there has been any complaints made using this companies name.
Fourth, You can call the State of Illinois fraud department and see if they have any record of the this company. If they have a record someone has made a claim on them
Fifth, You can call the State of Illinois to check for any record of this company. If they have incorporated in the State of Illinois they would be on record. Plus if they have filed they quarterly taxes they would be on record.
I just would call my insurance company first and for most, because if this is a fraud you will never see any of the money, the work will never get done and you will not be able to make a claim on the damage yourself later.
I pray this company is honest, upright and all will go well for you. Most likely that will be the case and you will get the damage fixed. Good Luck.
