Endometriosis & Infertility

An immediate family member of mine is diagnosed with stage 3 endometriosis. She doesn't have any kids yet and would like to persue infertility treatment after the surgery to address her endometriosis.

Has anyone had any experience with this situation especially with respect to the surgeon and infertility specialists used. I am looking in particular for any positive or negative experiences and any medical specialists you would recommend.

Thank you all for your time and advice.

Dr. James Douglas in Plano is an excellent fertility doctor. He helped me and many of my friends with conceiving. I would definitely set up a consultation with him and see what he has to say in regards to endometriosis.

I did not have endometriosis, but I did have very large fibroid growths. I worked with Dr. Camille Clark at Med City, who is a wonderful OB/GYN and surgeon. She did the surgery, removing the fibroids, and then she worked hand in hand with Dr. James Douglas - a really wonderful infertility dr. After removal of the fibroids, Dr. Clark had to watch my deliveries very carefully, as going into labor with twins (which I carried twice) could have possibly burst the uterine wall. Both doctors are kind and compassionate and very good at what they do. I managed to get pregnant twice and carry two sets of healthy twins. I would highly recommend that team. Med city is not that close to me, but it was worth it to work with Dr. Clark and the hospital was excellent. I do know a relative that had endometriosis and she had a baby after that surgery; the child is now 16.

Hi,

I was diagnosed with endometriosis about 21 years ago. I did work with a infertility doctor and never was able to give birth to children. We decided to adopt children soon after my unsuccessful appointments with the doctor. Each year the pain increased with my endometriosis and about ten years later I was diagnosed with fibroid tumors. The doctor recommended a hysterectomy and I had surgery soon after. The doctor said I had the worse case of endometriosis that he had ever seen which caused complications during surgery.

After healing from the surgery I am pain free. I hope that your family member is able to find a good infertility specialist to help her!

I don't know about the endometriosis, but Dr. Samuel Chantilis at Presby Dallas is a fabulous infertility specialist. One of the best in Dallas and always in D mag. I know 4 women (including myself) who had success with him. I would recommend seeing Dr. C. and getting a referral re: the endrometriosis. Here's their website:

Also, if and when your family member gets PG, I would highly recommend Dr. Brian Rinehart for perinatal care (care for high risk pregnancies), also at Presby Dallas. He and his staff are wonderful and helped me tremendously during my pregnancy ..... which resulted in a healthy baby boy. Here is their website:

I would recommend Dr. Pinto at Baylor--reproductive endocrinologist. He's an excellent specialist!

Two years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis and was told by my fertility specialist that I would not be able to have my own children. Period. I was devastated and out of sheer desperation, I searched the internet for answers, or at least for empathy and comfort. A fellow forum member that I signed into had warmly recommended this program on http://pregnancyhours.com, Within 2 months I noticed that I did not suffer from the horrible symptoms that the doctors could not seem to end. Could you believe that the doctors wanted to do a hysterectomy? After 7 weeks of following this treatment, I became pregnant-with twins!
