I am looking for a place to board my schnauzer next weekend while im out of town. I recently adopted him froma rescue, and he has some problems with anxiety so I would prefer a home like environment, where he isnt caged most of the day.
DOGTOPIA!!! It is the only place that the dogs play outside of a crate...what a concept, huh? Any way, my dog loves it and the owner rescues dogs herself and volunteers at the Humane Society. She is very impressive with the animals and I would recommend sending any dog there for an overnight. The people even sleep there with the dogs!!! And if you are ever concerned, just watch them on the webcam. The website is dogdaycare.com/livonia

Janel this is a link that I found to be helpful when I needed to board our dog a few years ago. Best of luck. PetSmart has a boarding at their Southfield location. (12 & Telegraph)
Kim's Suds and Shears in Westland (Cherry Hill & Venoy) is excellent. They take great care of my dog that has diabetes and seizures. Kim, owner, and her staff are all dog lovers and give the pets lots of TLC. www.kimssudsnshears.com
Hi Janel,
One of my clients sent me your note. I own Dogtopia and we are a cage-free facility and treat each dogs on an individual basis. We hope you check us out. www.dogdaycare.com/livonia. take care, Renee
Hi, Janel,
I have been out of town and didn't see your question until today. We take our dog to 4-Legged Friends in Livonia. They have daycare and boarding. It is cageless during the day and each dog has a little "den" at night. If you have internet access on the road then you can watch them online while you are away. I would highly recommend them.

I do not know personally, but to have some idea without actually inspecting it yourself, I would scour the internet for pet owner reviews of the dog boarding kennel. A pretty comprehensive site is http://www.kennelseek.com. Good luck.
