I was wondering if you have any creative ideas on how to tell your husband and family you are expecting.
Thanks!
When I was pregnant with my 2nd son, my 1st son helped me share the news. I made signs that said...
Hi Dad!
Guess What?
I'm going to be a BIG BROTHER!!
I had some other new pictures that my husband hadn't seen, so I put together a little photo album with the new pictures then pictures of my son holding each of these signs. We gave the photo album to my husband to look through and loved the look of surprise on his face as he got to the last 3 pictures. My son was older than yours, so he was excited to be in on telling dad.
I'm going to cheat today, I'm copying and pasting an old response that I wrote to another person but I really thought it was fun the way we told my parents.
With telling my parents it was more of just a conversation. I was on the phone with my mother and telling her a story of how my husband met an old classmate of his (which is true). I went on explaining how he thought it was fun to catch up on od thing and how my husband was happy how life has changed for him since then. He's gotten married, moved into a bigger apartment, got a full time job as a teacher, has a baby on the way...... It took my mom all of 3 seconds to scream WHO'S HAVING A BABY?!?!?!? i responded that we were going to have a baby and she continued to scream OH MY I GOTTA GO I GOT SOME PHONE CALLS TO MAKE!! She didnt ask me how i was doing, how long along i was or anything just said how she had to go and call people. It was a lot of fun. I hope you find something memorable to do to tell everyone. It really is a lot of fun. Cant wait to do it again myself someday soon.
Some friends of mine had a photo album that they were showing their family of some vacation or something they had done and at the end of the photo album there they had put their ultrasound pictures. I thought that was kinda fun as well..
As for the husband I'm thinking the next time I get pregnant, at some point we will be out and about I will talk him into shopping at a clothing store and I am going to suggest that that I need new pants. (He likes to go shopping with me, kinda a strange guy I know) I figured I would hold up a pair of maternity pants and ask him what he thought of those... Maybe not the most intimate of setting but fun, I hope!!
A picture frame worked for me. Since the Mom, usually gets the pictures up, he'll wonder why you gave him and empty frame...then just explain it's for #2.
Buy or make your 2 year old son a tshirt that says "I'M GONNA BE A BIG BROTHER" and put it on him and wait for everyone to read it. You can buy the tshirts online or make one.
Buy a plain tshirt and then you can make it with fabric glue and yarn/beads or just buy fabric paint. All supplies are available at a craft store like Michaels or Hobby Lobby.
GOOD LUCK & CONGRATS!!!!
This is what my husband did to tell his parents that we were expecting our 2nd child. His mom keeps a calendar on the wall that she write everything on so my hub wrote the due date on the calendar. My son was due close to my birthday so he asked his mom if she could check her calendar to see if she would be available for babysitting that weekend. Thinking that we would be going out for my birthday, she checked it then came running back in the room. She was surprized that we already knew the due date, but loved the surprize. With our first born, my hub told his parents that "in November we'll be getting a room mate". For some reason his dad thought that we were getting a pet. His mom caught on right away. They were elated. They were even more excited when we found out that it was a girl b/c my husband is the oldest of 5 boys.
Hi Melissa! First of all... CONGRATULATIONS! When I was expecting my first child, I found out I was pregnant right around Father's Day, and the baby's due date was Valentine's Day... So, on Father's Day, I created a card on the computer that said, Happy Valentine's Day on the outside, and on the inside it said, "Why am I wishing you a Happy Valentine's Day on Father's Day?... Because that's when you'll be a Father for the first time! It's only an estimate of course, but that's their best guess! :-)"
He actually cried!
I made similar cards for the grandpas too.
Since it's almost Valentine's Day now, your husband will be expecting a Valentine's Day card. So you could give him a Halloween or Thanksgiving card (whichever is closer to your due date), and say something like "Why am I giving you Halloween card on Valentine's Day? Because we'll have something much more concrete that celebrates our love then... Daddy... x2... :-)"
Good luck!

Okay, like I said in one previous post, Im a little bolder than most, so don't message me and tell me Im a nut! (I already know...LOL) \
My first thought would be to go online and get a t-shirt that says 'knocked-up', I almost bought one just to make my MIL crazy when I was pg. The also have more creative sayings that aren't so crude...haha! Just do a search.

Congrats Melissa! I didn't read the other responses, so forgive me if someone already gave you this idea. When I found out I was prego again. I made a poster that said "Guess What.....I am going to be a big brother". I had my son hold it and took a pic. I sent it to all our family and friends.
If there is a holiday around, you can give family members gifts with a two theme... ie (a 2 candle, two turtle doves, etc). They'll probably look at you funny until they figure it out. It's fun though. Congrats again!!!!
Our first was more interesting - he was a first grandchild both sides too! -- Gave my hubby the "stick" in a box, with a bib that said "Love You Daddy"
Had the parents and inlaws over for a brunch - gave the grandmas booties, each got a pink and blue -- there was screaming going on :)
I also like "Lacy's" Tshirt idea -- my SIL had my MIL - wear a shirt that said "My Wife is a Hot Momma" :)
Here is just an example of what we did when we were expecting our second child. We ironed the saying "I am going to be a big brother" on a shirt. He wore the shirt on Christmas Day with another shirt over it. We had my mother take off the one shirt and "tada" she got to read the shirt underneath. My mother (grandma) was so excited. She absolutely loved how we told her.

If your son can talk pretty good, try video-taping him telling everyone that he is going to be a big brother and show everyone the video to announce it. It's kinda cute to hear it from a little one!
We told my parents by sending them flowers from my 3 year old son and on the card had the meassage that he was going to be a big brother. It was a very fun way to tell them our news
I think a really cute way with Valentine's day coming up is to send valentine's to your family from the baby to be. Subtle but very cute. Cindy F
How we told our family what the baby's sex was, we ordered a special Dairy Queen cake that said "We have this cake for you to enjoy to find out if we're having a girl or a boy." They wrote (with food safe marker) a little XY on the cardboard and the family had to eat the whole cake to see what the sex was. Maybe you could get a Valentine's Day cake, or even make one, and write on the cake "Happy Valentine's Day from the 4 of us!" or "Guess what...? We have a new little Valentine joining the family." Something along those lines may be cute. Either way, it's fun to announce. :)
I have just a couple ideas.....you could send them bouquets of pink and blue flowers like caranations....or send a digital picture frame to them with the baby's first ultrasound picture loaded onto the picture frame.
I had a friend who bought a neutral colored baby outfit and wrapped it up as a gift to her husband. When he opened it, he was confused for a second, then got the idea. They both loved the outcome!
As for telling your parents, you could buy a little something that says "I love my Grandma" or something with grandma or grandpa in it and give it to them as a present.
I had my son wear a soon-to-be-a-big-brother t-shirt. It was cute and it took a while for everyone to read the shirt. It was kind of funny when they finally realized what he was wearing.
Have fun!
if you like chinese food- put a piece of paper that reads " your family is will be getting bigger soon" or something like that in a fortune cookie
Like LeAnn, I made a shirt for my son that said, "Big Brother March 2005" in pink and blue writing. When my husband came home, my son was wearing the shirt and I had him take the positive pregnancy test to his daddy. My husband was shocked and said, "Well I certainly didn't expect this when I came home today!"
When we were having a family party several weeks later and were ready to tell the family, we had our son wear the same shirt. It took a few minutes before anyone noticed but when they did they thought it was such a cute way to announce it.
