Does anyone out there have an Active Alert Child as talked about by Linda Buff? What type of schooling have you chosen or what changes have you made to make life easier/more enjoyable with your child? Thanks for any insights.
Right now, my son is in preschool and we chose the PISD Early Learning Centers -- small student/teacher ratio, short days, director is highly in tune with the needs of each student and works with the student/parent to meet those needs while preparing the kids of 'real' school.
The only major changes we've made is to find activities inside and outside of the home that meet his need to move. We're constantly going to museums, play areas, pools, story times, etc. I do try and incorporate his latest obsession in these outings -- loves fans = trip to fan museum, loves planes = trip to flight museum, loves trains = trip to railway museum.
We also have a sensory cushion (balance cushion) to allow him movement when he must sit for extended periods of time.
If there is anything more specific you are looking for, please feel free to PM me.
