My son has absolutely grown out of the tv shows he used to love (The Backyardigans, Bubble Guppies, The Berenstein Bears). He hasn't been watching much television lately, but I'm just curious what tv shows boys are watching these days.
My son doesn't watch much t.v., but he does like to watch the Hub and LOVES the "classics", which are usually on in the morning before school or as his one show before bed!
Animaniacs
Transformers Prime
Batman
We don't have cable, so it limits our options a bit. My son (and many of his friends) really love the PBS show Wild Kratts. Phineas and Ferb (on Netflix) is another favorite.
My seven (almost eight) year old likes Americas Funniest Videos, Paranormal Witness, The Neighbors and The Walking Dead. He doesn't like kids shows much and he doesn't watch a whole lot of TV.
Lego ninjago, star wars the clone wars, phineas and ferb.
We don't have cable and my son is older as he's nearly 9. He has liked for a while PBS shows like Wild Krats, Martha Speaks, Arthur & Cyberchase. He also likes Sonic the Hedgehog. On Netflix he will watch Phineas & Ferb, Hey Arnold!. My 6 year old daughter also likes the same TV shows as him.
My 6 yo son watches sports, it started when he was 5 (Football, basketball, hockey, baseball...anything sports)
I've seen him watch golf.
I like that he has to read the team name and scores. It has been awesome to see that really wants to read and how much he has evolved over the past year.
Lego Ninjago
Avatar Cartoon
Spongebob
most movies that are DVR'd, like Alvin and the Chipmunks (all 3), Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Toy Story 1,2 and 3, Karate Kid (1984), etc.
My 6.5 year old loves:
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
- Avatar
- Scooby Doo
- Ninjago
- Power Rangers
There all 30 minute shows he likes :)
Oh, also America's Funniest Home Videos he loves.
Sponge bob and dance moms my son loves it
my son was into wild kratts and spongebob never really got into ninjago or those. he loves river monsters, and anything dealing with animals on the discovery channel which is why he probably really liked wild krats.
Anything on Disney XD. His favorite is Phineas and Ferb. He is also very into Ninjago, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, etc. Outside of the kids shows he likes Man vs Food and Wipeout. he still watches some of the ones you mention primarily because we still have a 2 year old so I have to limit the older stuff.
I have a daughter but some of her faves are:
Star Wars anything
Dragon Riders of Berk
Phineas and Ferb
Avatar cartoon
Legend of Korra
My son is 6. He loves "The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That" and also enjoys "Martha Speaks". That's about it for regular tv-- he also likes the Reading Rainbow dvds and likes the nature dvds I get from the library.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Martha Speaks
Super Hero Squad
Fireman Sam
Phineas & Ferb
Justin Time
Looney Tunes (classics & baby)
Oscars Oasis
Word World
All of these are on Netflix or Hulu
mine is 8
He watching a lot of Mythbusters, How it's made. How they do it, Mysteries at the museum.
Star Wars
Harry Potter
Fairly Odd parents
Dexter's Lab
And some of what the others have listed
My 6 year old will watch Curious George with his little brother, and occasionally the Ninja Turtles. But I encourage him to watch the old ones on DVD because the new ones, while they look cool, are just NOT the same. I prefer the personalities of the old ones (the new turtles can be kinda jerky sometimes), and my son thinks it's hilarious to hear the slang from "the old days" when mom was young. All 4 of us also love to watch the 12-15 DVD collection we have of all the old Looney Tunes cartoons every once in awhile. Those things are still so funny, but we've not gotten through half the DVDs yet, and I bought it 7 years ago...
We don't watch much TV but he loves movies (Karate Kid, Star Wars, and nearly anything with action, adventure, or comedy). He does like to sit with us and watch occasional shows on Nat Geo, History, Smithsonian, or Military history channels (Planet Earth, How They Do It, WW2 stuff especially involving planes, history shows about Alexander or the Roman Empire, etc). But his absolute favorite? Malcolm in the Middle reruns (yeah...we're not great parents, but it's a very funny show, lol).
My 7 year-old son watches Thomas, Arthur, Curious George, Clifford and old fashion cartoons,(DVD's) like The Flintstones and Disney (movies and the classic cartoons).
mine loves curious george - which is about the only "little kid" show left that he hasn't deemed too babyish. he likes all the superhero ones now. transformers, and he loves lego ninjago. oh and dreamworks dragons, riders of berk. phineas and ferb, and he loves Electric Company. for movies he's into all the spiderman movies, star wars, some harry potter but i don't let him watch more than the first couple, after that they get pretty dark. oh and speaking of dark, he loves lord of the rings (my mom let him watch that one). crazy kid.
My 6 year old likes Ninjago, Ben 10, Spider-Man, Scooby Doo, Spongebob, Max and ruby. He'll occasionally still watch the Little einsteins and Caillou but prefers Super hero things.
I would say if he's not watching much, that's a good thing!
