I have been racking my brain for gift ideas for my 15 year old nephew. (I don't buy video games though) He's athletic, likes to read. What are you getting your teen boys or what are they asking for? Under $50 please. Thanks!
At that age we did get video games but probably your best bet would be a gift card. You could do one to Best Buy, Gamestop (if he plays games), the mall, or someplace that you know he likes to go. Also maybe movie gift certificates with restaurant certificates to go along (steak n shake) Good luck.
Cash! That may seem rude or thoughtless to some but, it's the perfect gift for a teenager - they can get what they want. Remember how picky you were at 15??? I have teenaged nieces - it works out well.
I would buy a gift card for a book store and he can find a book that he likes later, good luck
Good Morning Molly, I used to give our Nephew gift cards to Game stop. That is what he requested.
If your nephew loves sports and reading, give him gift cards to a sports store or to Barnes & Noble, Borders or get him a library card. You could give him Magazine subscriptions to a Sports Mag (not the Illustrated one lol) or National Geographic, Science Mag's, racing, Nascar etc..
Hope this helps some what
God Bless you Molly

My 15 year old nephew asked for a sports oriented hoodie sweatshirt or the OWL City CD. I also considered a KU basketball jersey or a AMC movie theater gift card (they have fork and screen and cinema suites which are both awesome).
Unless you have an item you know he'll love, just get him a gift card for a book store or a clothing store he likes. I remember being 15 and opening interesting gifts from relatives and thinking--I wish they would have just sent me money instead. I don't think it's impersonal if he loves it!
My son is 14 years old and loves to go to Upper Limits (a place you can go to climb and repel). It's located next to Union Station. Maybe you can get him a gift card to go there.
I suggest itunes gift cards. All teenagers have ipods. You can buy these for $15, $25, or a pack with 3-$10 cards at Target checkouts. My 14 yr old loves these. We usually give them to her friends for their birthdays. You can't go wrong with an itunes card. They can "buy" and download their favorite songs from the internet.
Since he is athletic, how about the Iron Gym pull up bar? You put it in almost any doorway (uses counterbalancing so no harm or install and moves easily) and he can do pullups on it. Only $20 at walmart/target I think. You could spend another $10 for the "ab straps" that go with it. Also, if you know what video game he likes, you could get the book guide for it (thats a compromise I use on my son - still gets him to read, it just has to be a subject he is interested in). You could do something similar for a sport he likes - get a nice illustrated book about it, or fiction book based on it. Good luck!
Ask his parents if he has an Ipod. If so, all teens LOVE ITunes gift cards so they can buy new music and they sell them at Walmart. You can't go wrong with this. If not, then you can actually buy an Ipod nano (the smallest music MP3 player for about $50 at Walmart and Best Buy. He'll love it. My 16 yr old loves his and he listens to it while he runs.
checks or gift certificates
I have a 15 year old and some of the things he is asking for include, models and paints (he loves to put things together), survival knife (scouting), guitar (over your limit I think), and hand held camcorder (I have seen them at Kmart for around $40), so he can record friends and campouts, etc. and download them on his computer. Of course, there is always a Visa gift card! Hope that helps!
I agree with the gift card suggestions... but something my mother did for one of my preteens was a magazine subscription!!! (my daughter's idea) WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT??? How cool is it to get a monthly magazine! Sports Illistrated, there are some with Muscle Cars (don't know the name of it) as well as fitness mags of all sorts. There is such a HUGE selection. Good Luck!
A cell phone! kajeet has phones starting as low as $24.99 and you could set him up with his first month of talk/text for $14.99. If you go to http://www.kajeet.com/michele you can take an additional 15% off the phone and if you order before December 23rd you'll get free shipping. The service is great for teens and tweens because the parents get free parental controls where they can set limits on how often the phone can be used - it can be turned "off" during school hours and after bed times so the kids aren't distracted by it. For a low monthly fee you can add GPS tracking so you can always know where the phone is (and presumably your teen!)
My son 16 loves gift cards to Best Buy, Game stop, Wal-mart or cold hard cash. You could also give a gift card to sporting goods store if he is into sports there always seems to be something they need.
My son is 14...a new game system isn't in my budget this year, some ideas that I am using for my son are an Itunes card so he can download some new music, a new baseball cap, some classic 80s dvds he and I can watch together he has seen Breakfast Club and loved it but I am also getting him the Lost Boys ( he was big on the whole Twilight thing I want to show him what Vampire movies were in my day LOL) In the past he has got books and posters, even more challanging puzzles that we could do together ( they may think it is cheesy but at this age you really just need to make an effort to spend the time together and throw in a snack as motivation!) My son has been into comic books, trading card games, sketch books and pencils and how to draw books. There are kits you can buy at Hobby Lobby or Michaels for almost anything from your basic car to more unique model kits. It really depends on his interests. There are gift cards for just about everything under the sun these days if you can't come up with something to wrap.
Lots of luck, I have to agree minus the video games I have a difficult time making it look like much under the tree for my teen.
Merry Christmas

hmm no video games... that is about all a 15 yr old wants especially boys. Maybe a gift card to American Eagle. That seems to be the popular brand in clothes for teen boys right now.
I don't even attempt to buy my nephews gifts. Teens are hard to buy for and easier to give them money or gift cards and wow around 50.00 that seems like a lot. We set a price range that the whole family can afford and is less than 20.00 for nieces and nephews so easier for them to get money that way if they want something big they can pull everyone's together and get what they want.
My boys do a lot of different activities, like to read, but for their gifts they do get mostly video games and movies because that is what they do when they actually have time at home and get their money's worth plus it is something the whole family enjoys as we all play Rock Band together.
We also play board games but have just about all of them you can think of so gifts that work well for our family are gift cards to Walmart or Target (which they usually buy video games/accessories, movies or some sort of something in the electronics dept), GameStop, or money.
If he has an Ipod and uses iTunes, get him a gift card for iTunes. Also a Vanilla Visa gift card that he can use anywhere... to shop or to eat out. Hope this helps.
