preschool/childcare and Kindergarten

Hi mamas,
I have a two-fold question. I'm looking for information on preschool/childcare centers as well as Kindergarten near Palos Hills. I'm new to the area. I have a toddler and a preschooler (who will start Kinder next year). First, does anyone have any experience with Bobbie Noonan's (on Roberts Road) or Sandbox on 103rd Street? Also, does anyone have comments good or bad about Palos Hills public schools particularly Kindergarten or others? I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you all.

I have heard good and bad things about both KinderCare and Sandbox, but I have no personal experience with them. However, I did several hundred hours student teaching to be an aide at Dorn Primary Center (they're just K and 1st grade) and the teachers and services there are wonderful. Oak Ridge is a good school, but Conrady Jr. High does have it's problems with very, very crowded classes and frequent trouble makers. I attended St. Patricia in Hickory Hills through 8th grade, and attended Stagg High School in Palos Hills. I worked for Stagg for a couple of years as well, and my husband also works in the district. It is a wonderful place with quality teachers, services, buildings, technology and more. I received a great education at St. Pat's, although it is very expensive. They recently started a preschool there, so I've heard, but enrollment has been down, so I'm not sure if they'll have it again this year.

Hi.I read your article today about daycare centers. My cousin lives in the Mt. Greenwood area and both of her kids went to Bobby noonan, she was very happy with them. This was 10- 15 years ago thou. I don;t really know anything about the public school out there, sorry.

Elba,

I have experience with Bobbie Noonan's in Palos Hills on Roberts Rd. I worked there a few years back and absolutely loved it. The program was very structured, which is important to kids at that age. It is comparable if not surpasses any Montesorri school. The teachers and director are very welcoming and warm to the children. Bobbie Noonan has thought of just about everything when developing the style of her schools. I left there to have my own children, otherwise I would have stayed for a long time. Good Luck!

Amy

P. S. I have a cousin that teaches in the public school on 103rd just east of Roberts Rd and she loves it, she is 30 and working on her doctorate. I believe she teaches preschool or kind. there.

I honestly dont have any expierence with the Palos schools or the 2 daycares you have mentioned. However i live in crestwood and my child is enrolled in the preschool with childrens world learning center in orland park on humphrey drive & 146 th . I have to say they have the best teachers i've met and i've searched alot. The feeling is instant you should visit my daughter who doesnt like to stay with anyone loves her teacher Mrs. karen and the kindergarten teacher Mrs. Vicky. The activities to the meals to the ciriculum is awsome! They have an open door policy so can drop in anytime!

Hello, My 20 mo. old twins go to Bobbie Noonan's on Roberts Road twice per week. This is the first day care/nursery school experience they have ever had. It took about two weeks of getting used to and now they really enjoy it. I think the teachers and aides are professional and run a very structured program geared toward preparing children for kindergarten, and yet they are very tender and warm to the children, from what I've observed. I checked out quite a few places recommended by word of mouth and am glad I chose them. I must say, however, that I did not check out the Sandbox because of the location from where I live, but have heard great things about that preschool as well. My 2 cents anyway. If you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected].

I was getting ready to post a message similar to this one, and then I saw yours. I also have a four year old that will be in Kindergarden next fall. I live in Palos Park. If you would like to talk,
