My husband and I disagree...so, can you decide?

My husband and I have finally (I think) agreed on a name for our daughter (I am due in 2 1/2 weeks). We have decided on the first name Peyton/Paityn...the problem is, we disagree on how we are going to spell it. I won't tell which one of us likes which spelling, but the two different spellings are above: "Peyton" and "Paityn". My husband suggested that we ask all of you Moms out there to decide for us, and I agreed. So, what do you think and why? Thanks!!

I like Peyton... I just think that it's more the common spelling and she won't have to spell her name everytime she says it to someone (because I guarantee you most people would spell it this way and not the other). Obviously though if you're going for unique go with the other one. I think that it's a really cute name either way. Good luck!

Peyton.... Cute name.

I have a new nephew who was born in March and he spells his name "PEYTON" so that is how a boy would spell it I think. The famous NFL quarter back spells it like that too. I particulary don't care for the other way, how about something different that way you don't have to choose. I would spell it "PAYTON" if it was a girl. Just a suggestion. Good Luck!

I also like Peyton. I agree with the other mom's response... If your going for unique spell it the other way, but remember, it may be unique to you but a pain for her when she gets older. It's like spelling Jennifer with one N or Kelly with an ey, unique but mostly spelled wrong.
Congratulations, I also have a son 4 and a daughter who just turned 1 and they are so much fun :)

Peyton" and "Paityn". I like Paityn, but when I think of the name I see "Payton. I can see Peyton being said wrong. Belief me I know my name is spelled Loreine but people for some reason always want to call me Loraine. it has a totally different sound but they do it all the time. I am always correcting people. It can be annoying at times.

I prefer the Peyton spelling...good luck!

EDIT Hey Tia...we are dying to know what you picked!! :)

When we chose names for our kids, we took into consideration that we didn't want to have to spell it to somebody every time we said it (think Dr. appts, etc.), so we went with traditional spellings.

Good luck! Keep us posted on what you decide!

I like Paityn!!! But which one looks best with your last name and the middle name??? My name is Amie, I have always liked the different spelling I do have to spell it out for everything but I would not change it. My daughter is named Madalynn and I have to spell it also. I guess I just like the different spellings!!

I really prefer Peyton but I do like how some have suggested Payton since its a girl.

I like Paityn. Prefer the "a" to "e" and think it looks nicer. Just my 2 cents. Best of luck.

I like Paityn, its different and unique, just like i am sure your daughter will be. Good Luck and let us know what you decide.

I like Peyton. I like the way it looks better, plus I agree with what others have said about the hazards of unique spellings.

I hated having a first name nobody spelled right. I did not do that to my kids.

I like unique spellings...and I think Paityn looks more feminine.

I personally like Paityn. As you can see I have an unusual name. And since Peyton is not too unusual, you will always know which picture on the school wall is your daughters without her having to write the first initial of her last name. My younger brother has has 3 Jacobs in his class so they are known by using their first name-last initial. My mom's name is Tammee and she grew up with at least 3 Tammy's in her class. She does have to spell it out sometimes, but she doesn't mind because it makes her unique and people always recognize her name and it makes her stand out from the rest. Sometimes standing out from the crowd can be important.
Good luck and congratulations.

My step-daughter spells her name "Brandie" and hates that she can never find anything with her name spelled correctly on it (it's always Brandy or Brandi). And she hates it even more when people misspell it. (She's 13.) I also agree that "Peyton" is the masculine form and I would go with "Payton". Good luck!

I prefer Peyton, but would suggest the "A" spelling as other suggested "Payton"

Peyton...It is hard anymore with people making up names and changing the spelling of them for teachers, fellow students or just about anyone to pronounce your childs name right. Peyton is not spelled Paityn and it will throw some people off. You will never find anything personalized either and it will all have to be special ordered if you ever want anything with her name on it. It is nice to be unique but in the long run you have to think what will be easier on your child through their lifetime. My sister in law is almost 40 and people still can't pronounce her name right and when they call her house and ask for her by something else she says they are not there because no one by that name is there. Good luck with your new little bundle of joy.

I prefer Paityn
