My son has the same issue. He ususes my shampoo Nioxin and it works really well for him. I took him in to the doctor cause i was freaked it was lice and he was very itchy and his forhead hurt really bad. The shampoo has relieved the issue and also only a few flakes on occasion. I hope this helps.
I know this sounds strange, but I used to work in a salon and a bunch of little old ladies with psoriasis used to come in a get perms because they claimed something in the prem solution helped.
You must try Complete Greens. You can get it in pill or powder form. It helps to alkaline the body. It has worked wonders for many with psoriasis and other skin conditions. It completely got rid of my son's horrible eczema, which covered his entire body. If we stop giving him the Greens, the problem areas come back within a few weeks. This supplement attacks the problem from the inside, rather than trying the symptom after the fact.
You can get more information at www.marketamerica.com/graichen. You can get free shipping off this website. Type Complete Greens in the search field. Contact me privately if you would like more information.

I have an extremely dry scalp and the only thing that works for me is Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo and Conditioner.
Hi Lisa,
I developed psoriasis only on my scalp when I was in college. I have seen many different dermatologists over the years and gave many different treatments a try. The condition worsened when I was pregnant. I now see a Dermatologist in St.Paul, who gave me a sample of something called CutiCort Spray (looks like a can of hairspray). This product works the best for me. I spray the product on my scalp before bed and shampoo it out in the morning. This stuff is amazing!!! The kicker is that they don't have it on the market yet. I have to go to the Dr. for an appt when I run out, so I can get another sample. It's worth it though!! This product has greatly improved quality of life! CutiCort keeps the scales under control and I only use it once a week!
Good Luck!
Laura

My son has had psoriasis since about 1-year-old, I thought it was cradle cap and wondered why I could not cure it. I have developed it within the last four years. I have found that Demerest shampoo works the best. You can buy it at any pharmacy or store usually, especially at Walmart. My son goes to a dermatologist and there really is no medication to cure it, but the Demerest really cuts it down. I am not bothered near as much now as I was for the first two years.
I just want to pass along a big ol RIGHT ON! to Annette R. She's given you great advice. This is dietary. You might consider getting allergy tested and trying an elimination/rotation diet to see which foods might be contributing. Dairy is a frequent culprit with psoriasis. People say it's an inherited condition, but it really is only in the sense that we learned what and how we eat from our families, generally speaking, and the flora of our intestines (which is a major part of the immune system) is laid down by our mothers at birth.
It's really really important to start taking a good-quality cod liver oil regularly, or fish oil until the fall if you're out in the sun a lot, then switching to cod liver oil when you're producing less vitamin D on your own. Also as mentioned, special care of the liver would be good, a cleanse, good liver support formulas, etc. Allergies and the liver are definitely connected. This is absolutely your body telling you something is out of balance. Don't settle for treating the symptom, get to the root or it will pop up someplace else.
Best of luck!
I am a married(almost 8 years) 29 year old with severe psoriasis. My daughter is 4 years old. I have had this skin condition since my early 20's, but after having a baby it got a lot worse. It started on me scalp and eventually covered half of my body parts. The book Healing Psoriasis The Natural Alternative by Dr. John O.A. Pagano is the best way to go. I wish I would of read this book before the psoriasis spread as bad as it was. The dermatologist did not work for me, but mine was a jerk. Gave me so much meds that the skin got even worse and it cost a lot of money. Psoriasis starts from inside(has to do with the lower intestine) ,it's all in the book.
I am on my way to work right now and would give you more information on what I have learned from this book if I had the time. I bought the book on BARR.COM. You could probably find it at amozon.com. The sun also helps in the summer. In the winter is when my skin would get really bad. My skin is also worse for me the week or 2 before my menstral cycle. I hope you will have the time to read this book. I know it is hard for Moms to get time for them selves. Stress is a major factor in psoriasis. Good Luck. Feel free to email me at [email protected] with any more questions.

There are two products that you would want to consider. OPC-3 (Code # 13009)and Ultimate Aloe Natural (Code # 1280). Both products work from the inside out. You're dealing with a nutritional problem. You can only get these from a Market America Distributor. By the way we are one. Feel free to go to our site http://marketamerica.com/tkwentland to get information about these products and more. If you want to you can even take a on-line Nutri-Physical. It is a Nutritional Analysis customized for you! Let us know how we can help.

Hi Lisa, I am sorry that you are dealing with this! I hate to rain on anyones parade but even though it is nutrition related it may never go away. My mom has had psoriasis for 15 years and she did raw diets, every supplement imagianable, fasts, cleanses, went vegan for 5 years etc.... just some cod liver oil and acidophilus is not going to magically cure you, though it will certainly help. I recommend that you go to a naturopath and get some insight.
Stress is a big factor in psoriasis breakouts. Also, what shampoo are you using? I agree with the basic H suggestion. Also, Aveda rosemary and tea tree shampoo will possibly help.
Have you ever heard of evening primrose? My mom actually cleared up a few of her breakout sites with Burt's Bees Evening Primrose cream. I don't know if it is practical to use on your scalp but if you have severe patches it just may be the thing to do. I think it's about $13 a bottle.
Do you eat any pork products? Pork is one of the major foods to mess up your liver and cause skin conditions. Since skin is such a major organ, many times sensitivities and imbalances are often manifested on the skin. It's actually a great way to gauge what is going on in your body.
I hope you have great success in healing! Don't be satisfied until you have your answer. My mom is still doing all she can and researching different things for her cure. A side benefit of all the things she has tried is that she is 61 years old and looks 45!
Good luck to you!
My sister had the most horrible and invasive psoriasis…for two and a half years. She had a dermatologist who used steroids. Unrelenting. I smeared all kinds of goo, she bled and itched. We found dermalmd psoriasis serum, something natural that doesn’t mess with your bone density. This seemed worth a try. It was. Praise God in less than three months she was symptom free.
