I used perfect showers! They were great!

I don't know if this will help, but at Wal-Mart they have a baby shower in a box. Looks very cute!

I wanted a very pretty baby shower so this is what we did:
Brown table cloth with pink lace overlay with pink rose petals
Miniture cheesecakes
fruit tray
meat and cheese tray
my aunt made an arrangement for a centerpiece that I also use in the baby's room (I didn't like the idea at first but the arrangement looks great in the room.)
We used my grandmother's crystal punch bowl and cups

Serving trays and punch bowls, ect can be found very cheap at places like Ross and Tuesday Morning.

Our party favors were cinnamon rolls from the Wal-Mart bakery. They were cheaper than buy and baking ourselves. We wrapped them in Pink saran wrap, tied with ribbon, added a heart charm that said "It's a Girl". We also typed a note on cardstock that said "Thanks from The Taylor's and our little "bun in the oven".

Good Luck and I would love to know what you do!

Here are some ideas:

  • Princess/Fairy Tale (Mom can wear a tiara :) )
  • Nursery Rhymes (decorate with Nursery Rhyme books that Mom can keep after the shower)
  • Everything Pink! (or Purple, or whatever color the Nursery is.) :)
  • Little Hands and Feet (cut out hand/feet shapes for decor)
  • A Baby is Blooming (flowers and garden decor, cover flower seedlings in tissue paper and ribbon with a tag as favors for guests to take home)
  • A "Bear-y" Special Baby/Girl! (Use bear decor- add ribbon bows to bears to make them "girly".)
  • Polka Dots/Stripes

I used a Pink/Brown theme for my friends shower, and it turned out beautiful! I bought a brown and pink striped table cloth at Party City, along with pink/brown polka dot napkins. I got pink dinner plates and brown dessert plates with pink cups. I decorated her cake (I made it) with pink buttercream frosting and white polka dots that I made with white frosting. I made the dots by placing "dots" of frosting on wax paper on a cookie sheet and placing in the freezer. Then, when they were firm, I used a knife to mash down the dots and make flatter circles, then placed them on the cake. She loved the colors and the cake.

Anyway, hope the ideas help.

i dont know any thenes but i have some ideals that you might can use for games to make it fun for everyone. at a party i been to they had a baby food tasting contest where you put alittle bit of baby food on a plate just enough for a taste then lable it 1-10 or how ever many you have have the people write down what they think they have and then who ever won the most got a prize but the prizes went to the babyor whatever you want to do as far as prizes. another thing was they had four diapers set up that had different kinda of candy bars in it one with nuts some not some different textures and then tehy had to guess what candy bar they made the candy alittle runnign and a little dry to make it to appear as poop then the people had to guess what kind of candy bar whoever got it right got a prizr, yeah i know kinda gross but everyone got a kick out of it mainly the men.another game to invold the dad kinda silly they had four people up there to drink as much milk out of the bottles that they could they winner won a prize. the mother in law won that won the son lost the object of that game is to see who can be the biggest baby out of all four of them the mom got to pick who she thought was the biggest they uusually picked the hubby as far as this game.. i hope this helps you i know its not a theme but i wanted to pass this to you.

Hi Tricia,

I am giving my sister an Afternoon Tea Baby Shower in a couple of weeks. We're going to use fine china for the tea and serve things like lady fingers, scones with clotted cream and cucumber sandwiches. We're also going to have lots of fresh flowers around for decorations. Hope this helps!

Hi Tricia, I make beautiful diaper Cakes and I can make one for you that would be very girly with lots of ribbons and bows. They are made to look like wedding cakes. My web site is diapercakesbybetty.com and more pictures are on Craig's list under diaper cakes. I live in Anna and I deliver to the surrounding area or I will mail for you. They are beautiful used as centerpiece for the table at the shower. $22.50-52.50

I was just at a baby shower last Saturday, and they had some fun and unusual games. My favorite was they had bought letters that come on little platforms with wheels and have magnets on the front and back, so the letters can be clicked together to spell a name and they can roll like a train. They bought paint in colors that matched her nursery and each of us painted a letter. When it was done, it spelled her daughter's first, middle and last name and it was so colorful and cute and unique! The mom-to-be picked out her favorite three letters, and the people that painted those ones got a prize. We were able to paint all throughout the shower but had to be done by the end so that she could pick. So the mom-to-be got something that was practical for decorating the nursery and it would remind her of all her friends and family that were there to help her celebrate, and it's something that adds a punch of color to the room. I just thought this was so much fun and people were really creative with their letters. Some were plain and some were more elaborate. But they all looked great when put together! I asked where they got the letters and they said they got them at Micheal's. I plan on doing this with my next kiddo.

Also, when she opened the gifts, the person that gave her that gift sat on the couch with her while she opened it. So this way she has pictures of the items with the person that gave them to her. She plans on including a copy of the picture in the thank you card. And she plans on scrapbooking, so she'll have a picture of every guest that was there, and she'll include a picture of her little girl wearing that outfit or sleeping on that blanket. I thought that was a really neat idea.

There are some great websites out there with baby games and themes as well. But I'm sure you will get a ton of great ideas here too.

Good luck!

I threw a surprise shower that was themed a 'Panty Party'. Everyone was instructed to bring a pair of 'girlie' panties (we kept the baby gifts hidden). When the mom to be opened the gifts, the panties, one at a time, the gag was on her.....then the cake came out......a rear end (heart shape cake) decorated with icing looking like ruffles on a pair of little girl panties! It was the cutest thing! Everyone had a blast! It was not only memorable, but it was a hoot!

I think butterflys are always pretty! If you need any ideas with games to play, let me know, I've got a few. : ) Good luck!

Tricia,

How about a tea party? I've done it once for a wedding shower and it turned out beautiful. We had all types of teas in different tea pots, We also used an assorted collection of tea cups-some vintage and some new from all of the hosts collections. We served mini scones with clotted cream and jam, little appetizers and petits fours from Celebrity. It was very femine and a lot of fun decorating. Good luck.

Hello Tricia since you would like it to be girly. Consider a pink theme. Have her friends to wear an item of pink. Have pink tableclothes, pink flowers and pink candles, paperplates and silverware.(All these items can be purchased at party city or dollar store) If you make the right choice. Also make her a pink punch add frozen ice cubes of pink water balloons and make these pink also. Take small balloons and fill them with water and freeze them. Take the frozen balloons and later add to the pink punch. For baby gifts have friends bring an item of pink, book, booties, washclothes, memorybook just to name a few. Found this on a web site. Sandra at Unique Gift Baskets 4 U.

I did a shower for my friend and the theme was her. She had belly picutres made and I decorated with the photos, pink toole, pearls and little odd and ends from micheals. It was so cute and very cheap. If she did not do belly pictures you can get her own baby pohots and blow them up and make the black and white.

um, you can always do the theme of her baby's bedroom, or you can do something the adults would love. My mom got these little mini-bottles and filled them with pacifier shaped candies for the favors and she got incense and little candles for the prizes for the games we did. I'm having a boy, but some of the things we did are still good for a girl's baby shower too. We didn't have pictures of me up, that was too much of a hassle, but we had tons of balloons and we did the theme of my son's room(moons and stars)

You could buy some tulle, it's pretty inexpensive at the fabric departments, and make some sashes out of it to hang in entryways, decorated with silk flowers, get vases and wrap tulle around them and tie off with pink ribbon and flowers. These are things we did for an anniversary party and everyone loved it. You could get pink silk rose petals to lay around the gift table and the food table. Throw some lace overlays around as well.

I also make diaper cakes, and Pink and Brown has been the very common color scheme this year! I have a few samples of what I've made on my site at www.southerngalsboutique.com

Good luck!
Carrie

I love the "panty" idea and the Tea Party idea. Almost makes me want to start again... ALMOST!!!

Anyway, two of my favorite shower ideas were - a clothes line with lots of (in this case) girlie outfits clipped to it. And make it all about the GIRL in all of us.

The other was to have the guests bring their favorite childrens book to start the library for the little one (they were welcome to bring other gifts, but the books were a huge hit).

Hope it goes well!!

BTW - what is your quote from?
